Do you like long distant rugged hiking in remote parts of the world? Are you Interested in establishing the final part of the Pamir Trail?

We are putting together an 45 day expedition to hike 4 sections (500 km) of the 1000 km long  Pamir trail in Tajikistan August 15-Sept. 30th, 2024.  We’ve been working with the author who has published a travel guide on hiking trails in Tajikistan, Jan Bakker, along with his trusted guide, to work out the route and logistics of the sections not yet fully vetted.  The trek would be a maximum of 5 people, including the guide.

Last year we ran a similar trip, with several from the Explorers Connect community, establishing the penultimate part of the trail.

If you have a CalTopo account, you can view the map thus far here: https://caltopo.com/m/KDGAK.  We are planning to hike sections 9 thru 5.

This is the most challenging portions of this trek.  No guarantee of success.  We could be turned around with non-crossable torrential rivers or glacial crevasses.  Yet, it also offers unparalleled opportunity to visit a location and culture seldom seen.   More info on hiking this trail at https://www.pamirtrail.org/the-trail

We are looking for one more experienced long distant alpine hiker.  If you are interested in joining us for this trek, please share your hiking experience, age, and availability for those dates to: dwburdick@sustainablesteps.com

We want to finalize our team by May, 2024.

Looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

thank you

David
